Description
Travellerâs Tales from a hybrid Project Manager
In the old days, a lot of industrial and commercial work was âprocessâ or âoperationsâ, sometimes supported by a focussed effort to make a change (aka âprojectâ). Gradually there has been a realisation that a better balance between âno planningâ and âtoo much planningâ can be achieved by applying experience, using âpredictive project managementâ.
In the last couple of decades a different approach called âagile project managementâ has arisen from the software world, which brings many business benefits.
Studies show that the majority of businesses draw from both of these approaches to manage their projects, i.e. they use a hybrid approach.
The speaker will illustrate these approaches with real project experiences from his decades of globe-trotting project management, training and consulting. He will then initiate a discussion about why in a world with so many pressing problems and challenges it matters how we manage projects.
