Description

 

In collaboration with TUS, this programme aims to provide the learner with a detailed knowledge and understanding of Hybrid & Battery Electric Vehicle technologies, it will also provide the learner with the ability to analyse High Voltage Electric Vehicle condition and assess the risks involved while implementing the skills to diagnose and repair High Voltage Electric Vehicle systems in line with European electrical safety standards.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Differentiate between the various High Voltage Electrical Components and Technologies used in modern Electric Vehicle Powertrains and High Voltage Charging Systems.

2. Describe AC variable motor speed drive technology and regenerative braking as used in Electric Vehicle Powertrain applications.

3. Appraise the Health and Safety Risks involved in the diagnosis and repair of High Voltage Electric Vehicles in line with European electrical safety standards.

4. Develop a Workshop Plan and Risk Assessment for the repair of High Voltage Electrical Vehicles.

5. Assess the operation and condition of High Voltage Electric Vehicle Batteries and Charging Systems.

6. Analyse the condition of High Voltage Electrical components and systems prior to carrying out repairs.

7. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to safely remove, diagnose and repair High Voltage Electric Vehicle components.

Entry Requirements:

Those with Craft Certificates/National Craft Certificates/Senior Trades qualifications or equivalent in Light/Heavy Vehicle Motor Mechanics should attend.

To access this programme, the learner must at minimum hold a Level 6 Advanced Craft Certificate/National Craft Certificate/Senior Trades qualification or equivalent in Light/Heavy Vehicle Motor Mechanics.

Delivery Method:

Schedule: Online (Zoom), Tuesday 19:00 – 21:00 for 10 weeks, Lectures will be recorded and made available online. In addition there will be 2 days of in-person workshops. The in-person workshops will take place in the TUS Midwest Campus.

Certification:

This is a Level 7, 10 ECTS programme. Successful learners will be awarded a Special Purpose Award Certificate.

Training Cancellation Policy: Training courses which are cancelled over 7 days in advance of scheduled training date shall incur no cancellation fee. Training courses which are cancelled within 7 days of scheduled training date shall incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the cost. Registrants who give less than 24 hours notice or fail to attend training will be charged 100% of the full fee.
