Fiona Gilchrist BSc, MSc, PhD
Dr. Fiona Gilchrist – Research & Development Lead in Jaguar Land Rover’s R&D Software Engineering Centre in Shannon, Co. Clare. Fiona is part of the Operations team in Shannon. She has broad expertise within the pharma, medical device, software engineering & life science sectors. Fiona’s previous roles have included a combination of project management of key R&D projects at Universities in the UK and Ireland. A BSc in Biological Sciences, MSc in Environmental Biotechnology, PhD in Chemical Engineering and significant R&D and commercial experience in the development of point of care & genomic technologies within start-up companies. Valuable combination of academic, start-up commercial, business development, project management, training expertise, local and external outreach activities, mentorship and funding agency expertise.
Fiona is a key advocate of STEM, mentoring secondary school students and internship opportunities for both transition year and PhD students. She has also mentored numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students in her previous roles within Universities and Enterprise Ireland funded research centres. Within her current role in JLR she is actively involved in the internship of SFI Advance CRT PhD students and mentors them whilst they are in residence within JLR.
