This Heavy Vehicle Diagnostics module is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex systems in heavy-duty vehicles. This module focusses on various components and systems found in heavy vehicles, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, electrical systems, and onboard computers. This module is for those involved in the diagnosis, maintenance and managing heavy vehicles and trucks.

Delivery
This programme will be delivered online over a period of 12 weeks, live on Thursdays 7-10pm, commencing Thursday 29th January, 2026. In addition there will be *two Saturday practical training days during the semester, dates to be confirmed with each cohort. All online sessions will be recorded. *Please note that the practical workshops are obligatory to successfully complete the programme.
Assessment
Assessment Strategies may consist of the following:
1. Continuous Assessment and Feedback:
Implement continuous assessment methods such as quizzes, practical assessments, and diagnostic exercises, written exercises to evaluate students’ understanding and progress.
Provide timely feedback to students on their diagnostic performance, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement to support their learning journey through video, voice and typed records of diagnostics carried out.
2. Self-Directed Learning Resources:
Curate a range of self-directed learning resources including textbooks, online tutorials, diagnostic manuals, and instructional videos to supplement classroom instruction.
Encourage students to explore additional resources independently to deepen their understanding and enhance their diagnostic skills outside scheduled classes.
Practical Assessments, Open book Exam, Work-based project, written assignments, Practical Labs.

Training Cancellation Policy: Training courses which are cancelled over 7 days in advance of scheduled training date shall incur no cancellation fee. Training courses which are cancelled within 7 days of scheduled training date shall incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the cost. Registrants who give less than 24 hours notice or fail to attend training will be charged 100% of the full fee.
