 nNote: This module is offered in part-fulfilment of the Diploma in Managem
 ent (NFQ Level 7\, 60 Credit Programme)\n \n\nStrategic Management is an 
 important subject. Importance is conferred on the discipline from its focu
 s on the development and survival of organizations in both the private and
  public sectors. Strategy had long been studied and practiced outside of b
 usiness schools in commercial\, historical\, philosophical and military co
 ntexts. It is considered to be both a capstone and a foundation subject fo
 r management thought and action\, and draws on multiple theoretical inputs
  from institutional theory\, marketing\, sociology and most profoundly\, e
 conomics and organisational behaviour.\n\nThe syllabus will cover the foll
 owing topics:\n\n 	Introducing Strategy\, Strategic dimensions\, environme
 nts and business models.\n 	Organisational strategy in the form of a busin
 ess model canvas.\n 	Organisational strategy in the form of a value chain.
 \n 	Industry analyses.\n 	Theories of competitive advantage.\n\nOn success
 ful completion of this module\, students will be able to:\n\n 	Explain the
  strategy dimensions of content\, context and process.\n 	Analyse and disc
 uss an organisation’s business model\n 	Identify\, analyse and discuss a
 n organisation’s value chain\n 	Consider and strategically analyse an or
 ganisation’s industry\n 	Apply and discuss market positioning and the re
 source-based view of the firm as core competitive advantage concepts.\n 	D
 emonstrate through application that understanding organisational strategy 
 required appreciation of powerful and useful theory.\n 	Display an analyti
 cal strategic mind-set.\n\n\n\nAccreditation: \n\nOn successful completio
 n of the Strategic Management programme participants will receive a Univer
 sity Certificate of Study (6 ECTS credits).\n\nWho should attend? \n\nThe
  programme is open to managers\, supervisors or those aspiring to a manage
 rial role with a minimum of two years organisational experience. Completio
 n of an NFQ level 6 certificate in management or equivalent qualification
