DESCRIPTION:This course is designed to provide participants with the skills
  for assisting persons affect by a critical incident or traumatic event. T
 he course consists of two modules\, module 1 deals with working on a 1-2-1
  basis with individuals and modules 2 teaches the skills required for work
 ing with groups.\n\nMODULE 1 - INDIVIDUAL CRISIS INTERVENTION AND PEER SUP
 PORT\n\nModule Objectives\nIndividual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support
  is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of\, and a specific pr
 otocol for\, one-on-one crisis intervention. These courses are designed fo
 r those in the fields of Business &amp\; Industry\, Disaster Response\, Ed
 ucation\, Emergency Services\, Employee Assistance\, Healthcare\, Mental H
 ealth\, Spiritual Care\, and Traumatic Stress.\n\nIntroduction\nCrisis Int
 ervention is NOT psychotherapy\; rather\, it is a specialised acute emerge
 ncy mental health intervention which requires specialised training. As phy
 sical first aid is to surgery\, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. T
 hus\, crisis intervention is sometimes called “psychological or emotiona

 dule Objectives\nGroup Crisis Intervention is designed to present the core
  elements of a comprehensive\, systematic\, and multi-component crisis int
 ervention curriculum\, the Group Crisis Intervention course will prepare p
 articipants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services. Fu
 ndamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined 
 and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide severa
 l group crisis interventions\, specifically demobilisations\, defusings\, 
 and the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). The need for appropria
 te follow-up services and referrals when necessary will also be discussed.

 d with crisis intervention and how to reduce those risks.\n• Familiarisa
 tion with small group crisis interventions:\n1. Defusing\n2. Critical Inci
 dent Stress Debriefing (CISD)\n3. Small Group Crisis Management Briefing (
 sCMB)\n• Be practiced large and small group crisis interventions by mean
 s of exercises.\n• Be practiced specifically the small group Critical In
