SUMMARY:First Aid Responder
DESCRIPTION:The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) has designed th
 e First Aid Response (FAR) Standard to offer appropriate training to indiv
 iduals and groups who require a first aid skillset including Cardiac First
  Response. This standard is designed to meet First Aid and Basic Life Supp
 ort (BLS) requirements that a person known as a “First Aid Responder” 
 may encounter.\n\nThe First Aid Responder will possess the following gener
 al skills:\n\n 	Deal with life threatening or potentially life threatening
  conditions in the pre-hospital environment until the arrival of emergency
  medical services.\n 	Provide First Aid Response for conditions not though
 t to be life-threatening but which are necessary to prevent further harm b
 efore the emergency medical services arrive.\n 	Provide pre-hospital First
  Aid Response in a wide range of environments including work\, home and re
 creational settings.\n 	Display the requisite personal skills including co
 mposure\, competence and self-confidence while understanding their limitat
 ions.\n\n&nbsp\;Course Duration:\n\n3 Days\; Thursdays\;&nbsp\; April 11th
 \, 18th &amp\; 25th.&nbsp\;\n\nCourse Content:\n\n 	Patient Assessment\n 	
 Incident procedures\n 	Cardiac First Response (CFR Community) including de
 fibrillation\, choking and stroke\n 	Common Medical Emergencies (Asthma\, 
 Diabetes\, Seizures\, Poisoning and Fainting)\n 	Injury Management and Sho
 ck (Bleeding\, Bone Injuries\, Sprains\, Strains &amp\; Dislocations\, Sho
 ck)\n 	Burns and scalds\, electric injury care\n 	Hypothermia and Hyperthe
 rmia\n 	Information Management\n 	Communications\n 	The well-being of the 
 First Aid Responder.\n\nAssessment:\n\nThere is a practical and theory ass
 essment which takes place at the end of Day 3.\n\nCourse participants must
  complete a multiple choice examination paper and a mark of&nbsp\;80% or g
 reater must be achieved to successfully complete the course. There will al
 so be a FAR skills test and a CFR skills test.\n\nCertification:\nCertific
 ation is under the auspices of PHECC. Successful candidates&nbsp\;must rec

  cancelled over 7 days in advance of scheduled training date shall incur n
 o cancellation fee. Training courses which are cancelled within 7 days of 
 scheduled training date shall incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the
  cost. Registrants who give less than 24 hours notice or fail to attend tr
