Prior to th at he was Research Professor Leadership\, Edinburgh Napier Business School \, Scotland\, and Professor of HRD at College of Business University of Li merick. He is Visiting Research Professor at National College of Ireland\, Dublin. He is co-editor of the European Journal of Training and Developme nt one the world leading learning and development journals and Associate E ditor of Personnel Review.  His research interests are in the areas of tr aining and instructional design\, learning and development roles and train ing effectiveness.  He is published widely in learning and development. H e is co-author of a leading textbook - Learning and Development in Organis ations: Strategy\, Evidence and Practice published by Oaktree Press in col laboration with the Irish Institute of Training and Development in 2020. H e has extensive practical and consultancy experience with leading firms wo rldwide and domestically including Stryker\, Dell Computers\, Teva\, Bausc h and Lomb\, Allied Irish Banks\, Chill Insurance and Fexco.
